Walking pad on carpet

Written by Jamie Miller, Founder & EditorLast checked

Carpet is workable but not ideal, for two mechanical reasons: stability and airflow. A pad on thick or soft carpet can rock slightly under use because the pile compresses unevenly under its feet, and the underside of the unit gets less airflow than it would on a hard floor, which matters for motor cooling over a long session.

What to check

What we have not established

We have not measured how carpet affects motor temperature or belt wear over time, and we have no manufacturer-stated flooring requirement recorded for the specific pads we have sourced. How we review.
