Some links on this site go to retailers who pay us a commission if you buy. It costs you nothing extra. It does not change what we write.
Which links earn a commission
Any link that takes you to a shop. They are marked as links to that retailer by name, so you always know where you are going before you click, and they carry the technical attributes that tell search engines they are commercial links.
Links to manufacturer specification sheets, manuals, safety notices and other publications are not commercial and earn us nothing. We use plenty of those, because they are where the specifications come from.
What the commission does not buy
- No brand or retailer pays to appear on this site.
- No brand or retailer pays for a position in a list.
- No brand or retailer sees a page before it is published.
- No brand or retailer can have a specification, a grade or a criticism changed.
- We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage.
The structural test we hold ourselves to: if every affiliate relationship ended tomorrow, nothing on this site would need rewriting. The specifications, the evidence grades and the comparisons are built from a product database that does not know or care which retailer pays. Commercial links are assembled separately and can be switched off entirely without touching a single page.
Which retailers
We are building this site to work with several UK retailers rather than depending on one, because a site that depends on a single merchant eventually writes what suits that merchant. The previous version of this site carried 559 links to a single retailer and three to everyone else combined, which is the mistake we are deliberately not repeating.
Our retailer relationships are still being set up. This page will name each one, and the pages themselves will name the retailer on every link, as soon as they are live. Until then no link on this site earns anything.
Prices
Where we show a price it carries the date we checked it. If that date is more than a fortnight old, the page stops showing a number rather than showing you a stale one. Always confirm the price on the retailer's own page before you buy. We have no control over what they charge or whether the item is in stock.
Why this page exists
Because you are entitled to know, and because the previous version of this site ran commercial links on 73 of its pages without a disclosure anywhere. UK advertising rules require commercial relationships to be obvious to a reader before they act on them. We would rather over-explain it than meet the minimum.
