How fast is 10 on a treadmill?

It depends entirely on whether your display is in km/h or mph, and that matters a lot. Most UK treadmills display km/h, where 10 km/h is a 6:00/km pace — a solid run, roughly a 26-minute 5k if held. On a machine displaying mph, 10 mph is 16.1 km/h — a fast sprint pace few runners can sustain for long. Check your console before assuming either.
How to tell which unit your treadmill uses
Look at the display next to the speed number — it will usually show "km/h" or "mph" in small text. If it does not, check the manual, or use this rule of thumb: if the maximum speed the console allows is around 16-20, it is almost certainly km/h (a home treadmill's motor physically cannot sustain 16-20 mph); if the maximum is around 10-12, it is more likely mph.
If your treadmill shows km/h (most UK machines)
10 km/h is 6:00 per kilometre, or 9:39 per mile. That is a genuine running pace — comfortable for a fit regular runner, hard for a beginner. See the fullpace chart for every speed from walking to fast running.
If your treadmill shows mph
10 mph is 16.1 km/h, equivalent to a 6:00 per mile pace — a genuinely fast sprint that most people cannot hold for more than a few minutes. If your console genuinely allows a sustained "10" and it does not feel like a sprint, your display is almost certainly km/h, not mph.
